Common holds
- Sampling / statistical exam — CBP is checking classification accuracy; usually no action needed unless asked for samples or invoices.
- Commercial exam / manifest review — documents under review; expect 1–5 days for routine, longer for PGA holds (FDA, CPSC, USDA).
- PGA hold (partner government agency) — FDA, CPSC, APHIS, etc. You may need prior notice, certificates, or sample testing.
- Bond/entry security not met — bond invalid, insufficient, or IOR mismatch; contact broker immediately.
- Intellectual property rights (IPR) — possible trademark/copyright flag; do not move or destroy goods without CBP direction.
